Decent streams near Latham/Schenectady?

My significant other thinks I should accompany her on a business trip to Latham NY in a couple of weeks. If the situation were reversed, I'd be seeing customers and she'd be shopping all day. But, I need to be fishing. Anyone know of a stream or two within, say, 1/2 hour of Latham? I'd try the Mohawk, but nothing's in season there for awhile. I think you'll be pretty damn close to the NY side of the Battenkill River! Scott
