Exhibit of angling books at CWRU library

Hi folks-

This is for the two or three of you out there on ROFF who are of a bookish
bent :-)

A week or two ago I mentioned a small exhibit I was putting together of
angling books from our collection. The exhibit is now up and ready for
viewing. I have not yet made a descriptive annotated bibliography, but I
did manage to take a few photos and put together a web page highlighting a
few of the volumes in the exhibit:

For those of you in the Cleveland area, feel free to stop and see the books
in person- though they are in a locked cabinet and can't be drooled on. The
display is on the ground floor of the Kelvin Smith Library, just to the
right of the central staircase as you enter the building. The library is
located just behind Severance Hall, the home of the Cleveland Orchestra, and
across the street from the Cleveland Museum of Art, near the intersection of
Euclid Avenue and East Boulevard. We are now between semesters, so the
library is only open from 9-5, Monday through Saturday. The exhibit will be
up for approximately one month.

Very nice. Thanks for posting it.

I don't have my books with me here, and that pic of the plate at the
front of Haig-Brown's The Western Angler gave me a little pang of
recognition and, what...., homesickness? Might have to visit abe.com
later today.......

Very nice Bill. Do you have any idea if the Rackham edition was
ever produced in mass by Crown or anyone? I'd like to see those
illustrations.

Yes it was, Walt. We have one of those editions too :-) Our "cheap"
edition was published by David McKay of Philadelphia, 1931. There was a
recent edition published by Ecco Press in 1995, reprinted in 1997- I'm
assuming it was paperback. I haven't seen it, but I'm really good at
looking up things like that :-)

Thanks for sharing that very impressive display. I drooled all over
my keyboard just looking at the pics on your site. :-( I wish lived
closer so I could see the display in person.

Now, don't get me wrong. I love my town. But Warren, if you ever want to
trade- say a week in Cleveland for a week in Bozeman, just send me a line!
