What is the advantage of using 20 pound dacron backing versus 20 lb
mono? The 20 lb mono would be alot cheaper, what are the disadvantages? |

Mono will stretch under tension, then as the wound on stretched nylon seeks to revert to its unstretched condition it will create forces that can warp many fly reel spools, which are generally not as beefy as baitcasting or spinning reel spools. -- Bob Weinberger La, Grande, OR place a dot between bobs and stuff and remove invalid to send email |

Braided dacron ages much better than monofilament. If you're like me, you don't change your backing very often. When you're finally lucky enough to hook the monster that takes you into your backing, you don't want three year old (or older) mono in there. HTH, Tom G -- email:remove tt |
