Default Incredible Penns - What an evening (or 10 minutes)!

(Gene Cyprych) wrote in message . com...
I went up to Hemlock Acres to move my trailer to a new spot on Friday.
Since it rained 2/3 of an inch on Wednesday Penns was still much off
color. We fished a little on Spring Saturday morning. Between the 4
of us we caught about 10 fish. One guy got 6 on a size 14 Tan Elk
Hair Caddis. Gray or brown hare's eared were working to some extent
too.

Saturday evening I decided to try Penns as it looked much better. I
fished just above the tunnel bridge near the riffles. I was using a
BWO nymph that I got at the Feathered Hook. In about 20 minutes I got
2 chubs. I then walked down around the bend (a couple of hundred
yards down from the bridge). I only saw a few fish rising
infrequently so I stayed with the BWO until I lost it on a rock. I
switched to my "go to fly"- a bead-head pheasant tail. In this case a
size 18. I got 2 fish pretty quickly and lost 2 more.

I decided to head back up near the bridge to try my PT there. My MOST
AMAZING PENNS EXPERIENCE OCCURRED! I wadded back into the spot near
the riffles (just up from the bridge). On my first cast I got one!
My next cast I got one! After another cast with no fish I got one on
the succeeding cast. Then after another cast with no fish I got one
on the succeeding cast! So, 4 fish in 6 casts! After the third fish
I thought to myself, could this get boring? nah. Just as fast as
the catching frenzy started it ended. I looked at my watch and it was
8:10pm.

Amazing pheasant tail! Incredible Penns!!!!!

Correction- the Tan Caddis used by John on Spring Creek was size 18 (not 14).
