Rojas' Sumo frog

We know Rojas was throwing the sumo frog around. Would the Snag-Proof
Tournament Frog do just as well or is there is a different action in the
Sumo? I noticed the Sumo bobbled almost like a jitterbug(thats the only
think I could think of that had that action). Does the Sumo Frog have
this action naturally or was Rojas making it bobble & swim like that?

I have never fished a sumo frog before, but I can make a snag-proof do
something similar by holding the rod tip low and working it in a "walk the
dog" style, similar to what you would do with a zara spook. Course, I might
just have to give a sumo frog a look. Never know what other improvements it
might have!

A little of both, I suspect. The sumo is bulkier than the SPt and will move
more water with its "bow wake". It almost looked to me though, like Dean's
from had some extra lead in it (a not uncommon modification) to make it sit
lower in the water.

The Sumo Frog has a lead weight molded into the bottom and has the
action you saw right out of the package. I recognized it as soon as I
saw it.

liked the brief look of it on ESPN as well and glad someone brought it
up as I figured it was the Tournament Frog. I just did a little
investigation and found the Sumo by Boze and something they call the
Walker. Since you seem familiar, by chance have you used the Walker?
this is something that might really interest me as one of my favorite
soft topwater lures is the Mann's Ghost which this seems to be a refined
version of. what do you think ....

club tournament last Saturday on the Hudson River. One strike on the
frog and nothing on the walker. The back end of both of these sit
lower in the water and have very good action. I have used the Ghost
also and have had good luck over the Hudson's chestnuts.

thanks, I think I'll give them a try myself. if you ever have a day to
remember on either one, or both, let me know around here.

Yes, I've used both. But the walker was less impressive than I had expected
it to be. The way the weight in the belly is attached, it is constantly
hanging in the nuts. If just doesn't have a 'clean' leading edge. It kind
of sticks out a bit and dares the weeds to get stuck in the little slot. It
works pretty well in more open areas, but in more open areas, I can use a
regular old spook.
