![]() Qualifying rained out, do they line up by points? What's the weather supposed to be like for the weekend? If it rains during the scheduled race, any chance of completing the race on Monday? |

Qualifying rained out, do they line up by points? When qualifying is rained out, the starting order is determined by points. But there are exceptions for road courses and also if Joon yer needs help. What's the weather supposed to be like for the weekend? Getting mosly light just after dawn. Lighter as the day progresses until it starts to darken near dusk. If it rains during the scheduled race, any chance of completing the race on Monday? The race will be run at least to its half-way point. If the NASCAR gods don't have a bad hangover, they might finish the race on Monday. Chances are bad for that. |

I think the first 35 are on points, but there might be some different way (like number of previous qualifying attempts) to determine the last eight (or seven, if there's a champions provisional). What's the weather supposed to be like for the weekend? Thunderstorms on Saturday; slight chance of rain on race day. If it rains during the scheduled race, any chance of completing the race on Monday? According to the National Weather Service, it should be clear Sunday night and all day Monday. -- Don |

If they run one lap past halfway, it's an official race, and would not be continued. |

I don't think they have enough lights to run a televised race, so if it gets dark they'd probably call it. If they run one lap past halfway, it's an official race, and would not be continued. To be more accurate, if they run one lap past halfway it's an official race and they do not have to continue it. Whether they actually do or not is at NASCAR's discretion (altho, since NASCAR is a slave to the TV folk, the likelyhood of their continuing on Monday if they're past halfway is pretty much zero). If I'm reading Jayski's site right, the order for the "go or go homers" is (a) most qualifying attempts, then (b) owners points, then (c) it says "best finish", but this might be the "standard" tiebreaker (most wins, then most 2nds, then so on down to 43rds, then best finish in the previous race - then again, that's the same as "best finish, then best 2nd-best finish, and so on"). Since nine drivers had qualifying attempts in every previous race so far this season, 36-43 was based on points (although there was a tie in points for the last spot, so they went to the best previous finish tiebreaker). -- Don |

HTH Apologies for jumping into rec.autos.sport.nascar, but I want to add to rdean's point that no one constructively participating in this thread is from rec.outdoors.fishing.fly, so if you delete roff from the header, you will still be communicating with the intended participants. (Just in case you were concerned that trimming the header would remove people who were active.) Thanks. Enjoy your chats. --riverman If you're enjoying it, then why not keep reading and posting back? Who cares? Maybe you need some education. |

HTH I actually went to the original post and coppied all of the groups back in just to make my point. FOR THE RECORD There are only two groups in this crosspost. Hardly an example of a serious problem. The larger issue is that the original post has no importance to either group it was posted to. |
