Around this part of the state (west) the salmon flies are generally out most of June- Fathers day on Rock Creek is pretty good. IIRC we saw lots of Salmon Flies on the Madison around the camp ground just after the 4th of July. The bad side of all this is spring runoff can make for tough fishing conditions. The last couple of years we've been into hoot-owl fishing by early August (rivers closed from 12:00 noon to 10:00 pm or something like that) I didn't get out much last year- started shooting skeet and was off to one tournament or another most of the year.
