Nice looking boat Bob.....congrats.. has alot of standard things with
it...the only thing I would suggest is a 24v t/m if it does't have
one,
nice to have the extra power in the wind...what do you consider a
central CA lake, around Fresno/Bakersfield or Modesto/Stockton? Have
fun
with it and be careful.....

Thanks!

I agree about the trolling motor, but there's no place for a second
battery up front, so what the heck. Besides, if it's blowing that
bad, they close the lakes and kick everybody off the water!

You mean the State of Kalifornia is telling people to stay off the
water when the wind picks up? There's one more reason to not live
there!

I did go
with the universal transducer on the Minn-kota, to use with the bow
f/f, and added the wireless copilot, so the front is clean and
uncluttered with a bunch of cables, etc.

I consider Bakersfield almost local (100 mi), but I don't know of any
lakes in that area. In Fresno, I want to try Pine Flat.

Modesto & Stockton are too far for a day trip for me, but I gotta try
the delta, from everything I've heard about it, it;s a bass factory.

McClure and New Melones are also on my hit list, and I'm planning on
taking lots of long weekends

(never liked working Fridays anyway)

Only a couple. San Luis Reservoir for one. They have warning lights. But
since the wind can go from calm to 50-60 in 30 minutes, they are trying to
prevent Darwinism. There are major wind farms just up hwy 152 from the
lake.

There they go again. Keeping the stupid alive to breed again. Oh
well. :}

That's exactly what happened to me... drove about 4 hours to get to
San Luis, got there and it was closed!

I think just the main lake closes. The forebay stays open.

Crestliner Fish Hawk 1650 (16')
50 HP Johnson 4 stroke, EFI
Pacific trailer
travel cover

2004 leftover, brand new, so I got a "deal". $13995

Options I'm adding:
Minn-kota PowerDrive 55 w/universal transducer and wireless copilot
Humminbirg Matrix 37
http://www.humminbird.com/products.asp?ID=379

I haven't heard much about Evinrude/Johnson motors for a long time,
but I understand they were sold by OMC to Bombadier, who then formed

a
new "Outdoor Products" group for boats, motors, etc. The dealer

tells
me the Johnson is made by Suzuki, and Evinrude motors are made by
Yahama.

Any & all opinions appreciated.

Thx.

Very nice Bob. Looks a lot like my 16' Northwood, only I went with the
whole walk-thru windshield. It is a small and light boat. Get a good
feel for it before hitting the rollers at top speed. Mine has a 75hp
Merc and a sticker on the dash that says something like 'This boat can
be very dangerous at speeds over 40mph'. It does 40+ and gets quite
squirrelly.

Here's a NorCal web site that has good delta, Melones and some Fresno
area info also:

http://www.anglernet.net/

Have to register, but worth it for the info. They're having a get
together next month at McSwain and McClure. More trout folks than bass
but I will be fishing for bass.

Thanks Phish - I hadn't seen this web site before. It looks pretty
good, so I signed up and I guess I'll be putting my $.02 in now and
then.

I saw a photo of your boat there, looks like a great setup. I'm
picking my boat up this weekend; I'm planning on sticking to local
lakes until I get used to using it, then I want to start dragging it
to some of the great spots suggested in here.

I'm really psyched to fish on the Sac Delta - did you guys see that 18
lb-er caught there last month? What a pigster that was!

Bob.....Was that the 18 lbr on a fly rod and fly? If so he was fishing
for stripers, what a great surprise. He C & R the fish and later checked
the record book and would have set a record for line size. I saw a 19
lbr 2oz two weks ago, still full of eggs so might go over 20 lbs in a
few weeks. Guy got it on a big swimbait. I should be so lucky..

Hey Bob..Doing fine here, hope you get some sleep tonight, and not
walking the floor waiting for tomorrow and that new boat. The info you
sent me on that bass was caught in Feb of last year, the one I was
talking about was caught last week sometime on a fly rod. Two different
bass or atleast different times. Maybe same bass? Have fun with that new
boat this week-end and be careful. Take care..
