Western Clave-Quakes

I think 19 campers were confirmed dead and more than 25 were
unaccounted for total. It'd be nice to stop at that visitors center
sometime, but with the river right there and it being daylight and all
it's hard to pull into that parking lot!

I reread my post and it probably didn't ooze the sarcasm intended.

Steve Martin was in a movie called L.A. Story that was an absolutely
lousy movie, but had two scenes that were memorable. One of the scenes
was in a coffee shop where a group of yuppies were gathered around the
table talking while an earthquake was rocking the building and
everything on the table top was in motion. The quake was never mentioned
in the conversation or recognized by anyone in the restaurant. More
truth in that than fiction.

What I found spooky is that the boat ramp on Quake Lake is the old road.
It disappears into the lake, going nowhere but down. Most of those dead
people were no doubt living right along that road.
