The transitional are the way to go. They take some getting use to, but if your eyes are anywhere like mine, I have several distances I'm out of focus. When I talked to my doctors about my aches and pains, I told him. "If this if a preview of the golden age, I don't think I like it". His response was, "Well it beats the alternative". Can't argue with that. My mother is 79 and has had inflammatory breast cancer(13 year survivor), diabetes(for 30+ years), glaucoma, cataracts, is legally blind, going deaf, and just lost a big toe to a brown recluse spider bite. She has a refrigerator magnet that says: "Old age is NOT for Sissies!" |

I got a pair of the transitional bifocals a year ago. It took about a month
for me to get used to them. Now, I don't even notice I'm wearing them unless I find myself in a situation where I need to look at the ground to keep from falling -- say I'm clambering down a steep incline. In that particular situation, the bifocals are dangerous because -- unless you hold your chin to your chest and look out the TOP of the lenses -- the ground and your feet are blurred. In that situation, my solution is to push the glasses up on my forehead and just use my uncorrected vision. I guess the point is that a single correction method dosent' work for everyone, but that the transitional lenses work for me. Rich -- sorry they didn't work for you. While we're on the subject of eyesight, does anyone have experience with the latest sunglasses that adjust their tint according to the available light? Does anyone know if they're available in polarized lenses? Family, Friends, Fishing, Rob Storm http://stormsrestaurants.com |

Craig--- I also had the same problem but found that by going to hi vis line
that I am able to keep eye contact with my line and can better control distance.I guess I give some advantage back to the bass because if I can see the line better so can he ..I couldn't tie my shoes without my bifocals much less tie on a hook Ken "Craig Baugher" wrote in message news:Lutnc.13196$z06.2231309@attbi_s01... I've getting at that age where I either have to hold my lure 2-feet away from me to thread my line through a lure's eyelet, or tilt my head down and look over the top of my glasses. Yeah, yeah, I know they make bifocals, just fighting that last step. But my real question is to those that have gone through or are going through this step in life. I am also noticing I'm loosing a little depth perception too. I'm missing targets only by a hair, but missing them none the less. When pitching, I'm not stopping the lure quick enough, resulting in a splash vs a wave. It's like my depth perception is off just a little. Did you experience this as well when the old eyes started giving out on you, or do I need to go to a eye doctor? -- Craig Baugher Be Confident, Focused, but most of all Have FUN! |

ever consider that new fangled eye surgery? No. I've had enough surgeries that are non-elective. I wouldn't ever volunteer for one. I would still need glasses to read and use the 'puter, so why bother? RichZ© www.richz.com/fishing |

Try the Dollar stores, they have magnifier diopteric (sp) glasses for a
couple of bucks a pair, I think I have twenty some odd pairs stashed here and there throughout the house, garage, barn, work, in the car, in the boat and at the lake. They look just like real glasses only cheap. -- Stony "Craig Baugher" wrote in message news:Lutnc.13196$z06.2231309@attbi_s01...
