No, I'm not.

yfitons
wayno(if the mutha****er hasn't gotten "in trouble" for his activity
on any really important governmental level for the last several
years, this little social embarrassment ain't got the legs of a 78
year old bird huntin' lawyer.)

This is politics, not the real world. Cheney's a laughingstock, so
he's finished.

Yeah, there goes his run for President.

Doesn't matter. I don't think he ever had a clear shot at it.

You guys are pretty naive about what "politics" means. It's not just
about running for office. Cheney has another 2 1/2 years as VP, and
since he's the one who really runs things in the "Bush" administration
that's a big deal.

When these guys came to power the story they tied to spin (successfully)
was that they were more competent than the previous administration. Even
though we've seen time and again that they're actually appallingly
incompetent (the Iraq debacle, the Katrina ****up, the Social Security
and Medicare messes, etc., etc.), this hunting accident highlights
Cheney's incompetence in a particularly stark way.

I'd use many words to describe Cheney, but incompetent really isn't one of
them. Aside from this latest incident, I believe events are unfolding
largely as he planned them.

And what leads you to believe that this is going to change anything? You
pointed out the salient fact yourself......Cheney runs things.....but you
seem to have missed the primary implication.

True.....but it doesn't matter.

Wolfgang

It's okay, Myron. Some people just get cranky when something flies over
their head. ;-)
