![]() "jeff" wrote in message ... hmmm... i reckon i qualify as a liberal (whatever that label means). i also must admit i've been hypocritical on any number of matters (frankly, i think every parent confronts his own hypocrisy on a regular basis), so i'm fairly called a hypocrite too. however, as a hypocritical liberal, i thought the whole scooterlibby imbroglio a fascinating and stupid undertaking, typical of prosecutions designed to extort incriminating statements and evidence about other matters and other "targets". but, it only works when presidential pardons aren't available and probable. this whole thing, like the clinton impeachment, has been a horrible waste of resources and reveals the worst edge of partisan politics. pursuing perjury charges against some little nothing of a guy like libby while allowing his superiors to get away with the big lies that proximately caused the death of thousands of innocent men, women, and children is kafka-esque. we are all hypocrites. perjury renders a justice system impotent if not challenged. still, most courts and prosecutors have developed methods of dealing with liars short of perjury prosecutions. i guess i have a thick skin about courthouse liars because i am convinced that only the church (temple, mosque, etc.) holds more liars and hypocrites than the courthouse. in more than 30 years of experience in the eastern nc court system, i am aware of less than a handful of perjury indictments. if we prosecuted all of the perjury occuring before grand juries and in trials...or even a healthy minor portion of the provable perjury...we'd never have time to prosecute anything else. In the course of these eternally fascinating political discussions I sometimes indulge myself in fantasy about a criminal proceeding in an American courtroom, during the course of which not a single instance of perjury occurs. GodDAMN, I crack me up! ![]() justice will be meted out best when obama is elected. g Sadly prophetic words, though not in the sense you intended, I fear. Wolfgang |

So, you've heard something about his forthcoming completion of the task of obliterating the U. S. constitution that the rest of us are not yet privy to? Assuming Bush serves his entire term, and there's no reason at this time to assume he won't, Bush will serve as President until Jan 20, 2009 or so. Technically David can get his wish without Bush obliteraing the US Constitution. Ta da! We have a winner in the balcony, Doctor. If only the **** weasel whore monger would use his brain for something besides sowing hate. You might have to explain it better to him, Wayne. Good luck. Correct me if I'm wrong, Whore Monger, but doesn't Bush's term go until 2008? Yeah, I thought it did too. And doesn't he leave office the very DAY that his replacement is sworn in? Check and see when that is, and get back to me. Wolfgang who wishes he could.....but he cannot.....be the least bit perplexed that so many here still take this hate-consumed illiterate piece of **** seriously. Moronic whore monger. Dave, who still cannot believe the whore monger has friends to fish with that are not consumed by his hate. Idiot. Wolfgang |

I think Wolfgang and I might have disagreed before but we seem none the worse for the wear. Actually, he makes a pretty good friend and fishing companion. Which is the first opinion I've thrown into this thread. Seems to me you came out swinging with the insults too, before Wolfgang chimed in. I fail to understand why a conversation cannot be had discussing the cons, and well you might call them pros, of the current administration without the former being dragged into it. History goes far beyond Clinton and he's been out of office almost seven years. Whatever faults he had as a person or as a leader is irrelevant to the issue at hand. And frankly it smacks as childish to use Clinton's practices as justification for subsequent misbehavior when part of the Bush platform was to avoid those ethical and moral lapses. |

Too late The true Bush legacy is probably going to be the nominations of conservative judges and a potential conservative bloc on the supreme court. But seems to me, the administration is losing more than its winning in the judicial process which proves there is hope yet. |
