Default Ankle support

No recommendations for boots, but I recall using ankle support inserts
for ice skating when I was a kid. Presumably some such thing is still
available somewhere. If you can find them, simply take a pair with you
when you try on wading boots and select whatever size will accommodate
the inserts.

I do use ankle braces made of neoprene/velcro and wrapped tightly, much
like the old Ace bandages. I got them in the local drug store, and they
are a big help.

Seeking out a more 'high tech" version makes sense and ice skating seems a
good place to start ...

Just for giggles, I decided to google "ankle supports." EEK! There's a
billion or more out there! Haven't seen anything like what we had as kids
yet, but I did kind of like this one:
