I just found this group and I am looking on any suggestions on a fishing
trip to Alaska. I have gone to the last two sports shows in Sacramento and talked to a quiet a few outfitters. So this year I want to book a trip for me and my son (he's 12) this would be a fishing adventure of a life time. These are to places that have caught my eye http://www.allalaska.com/flyfishing.html http://www.allalaska.com/flyfishing.html So any advice, places to check out or what not to do would be appreciated. Hear are some thing I set on at least on fly in one Halibut trip the other thing would be staying in a lodge. I have also noticed there is a wide price range I do realize it's not cheap. Anyway Thanks in advance Dave |

Anyway Thanks in advance Dave There are literally thousands of fishing guides / lodges in Alaska , everything from interior to coastal and every thing in between . I've lived and Fished Alaska for 30 + years. My advice is , decide what time of year , what target species of fish and what part of the state you want to fish , then start checking the Chamber of commerce web sites for that region/city or town your interested in , Look at the Phone books online , Start making inquiries . Prices rang from a kings ransom to dirt cheep. every thing from a guided trip to a drop off via boat or plane can be had. You can live fancy at a 4 star hotel/lodge or tent it on the side of a river bank , your choice. Or you can Road fish via hi-way accessible streams from a rental car and charter out of several coastal communities for the day for a few hundred bucks . If you are a GI or retired Military , the Army/Air force maintains several resorts that cater to active/retired military , chartering boats out of Seward AK for free. And other places. Have fun , come spend all your money and then go home , Just kidding Greg -- "You are what you is" - Frank Zappa |
