Tom It's more abstract than a typical Homer, and there are what I consider to be faults in the left foreground water (which is crudely done, in general), but I think that might be because it was a quick and unfinished study. In any case, the original would be a treasure if it is a Homer. BTW, and sorry for responding to my own post, but fishing boats of all types and situations -- moored, anchored, sailing into harbor, you name it -- were a favorite theme of Homer's. His most well-known ones are of Key West, of which this one obviously is not. -- Cut "to the chase" for my email address. |
