![]() wrote \ I'm not offering definitive legal advice, but if I understand it correctly, it's not illegal to download music (for personal use) if you already own a "hard copy" and retain the hard copy. TC, R Thanks, but I'd be willing to pay, in some cases .... However, I'm on the world's slowest dial-up ... the single side Fred and I talked about in this thread would take a minimum of 4 hours for me !!! |

Just a suggestion - if he's willing to do it, upload load it to one of the "Rapidshare"-type sites and you can DL it at night, or, have a friend with high-speed DL it and burn to CD. HTH, R |

Again, thanks ... you give me the idea of having 'the kid' get it for me ... he has broadband where he lives near the Pacific campus ... and ... he owes me G He shares a house with a very talented music major, bet they know all the places to find this stuff already |

But, one vaguely amusing 'claim to fame" I have is that I stopped taking LSD before it was made illegal, another is that I went to genuine Ken Kesey "acid tests" where he put it in the kool-aid for all to try. Aaah the sugar cubes, wrapped in tin foil. The Triple-A band (the anonymous artists of america) were the band at most of the acid tests. I remember once, when living in a teepee circle at the tripleA, in southern Colorado, when some diggers showed up with an early video recorder (we had extension cord plug in mounted on a power pole) that displayed on a black and white TV. They showed us a sequence they filmed of some hog butchering. They were radical vegetarians and they thought this video would turn anybody into a veggie. But we had a hog we needed to butcher, so we kept asking them to back it up and re-run it at certain key spots. I'll wager I was one of the few people ever, who lived in a teepee and tied flies in it. |

And so I spent the the summer living in the tepee across the creek that we had set up for the ceremonial Order of the Arrow shindig on Friday night. And I tied flies in it. sounds like you two guys (Monella and Fortenberry) where both "one of the few" .....late 60s early 70s acid heads who lived in teepees and tied flies? :-) |

It was reissued on CD and I must listen to it once a month w Mike White in electric violin- Wow! That's the one, Fred you can hear me applauding at the end G I was in about the eighth or tenth row from the stage my copy is pretty mucked with clicks and such, on that side especially, and I would find it and download that track IF I had broad band ... I may just have to find the CD, in this case, as it is a wonderful album and ...memory Larry: The CD Should be be eaily found If not I can burn and send a copy let me know- I also have it in vinyl -but my copy sounds like yours Here''s another one- Charles Lloyd's Forest Flower Sunrise, Sunset w Keith Jarrett on the piano. I grew up pn the East Coast - NY Instead of getting hung up on hard drugs - I was too cheap - I used to see music and movies a LOT I saw John Handy 3 or 4 times and John Coltrane 5 or 6 times - WOW!! I liked Jazz far better than rock and I still do Fred |

It appears that such use of your CD/album collection is a copyright/ fair use murky area, and that the RIAA would like it to be illegal: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...122800693.html HTH, B |

IAC, I think as long as there is not even a scintilla of evidence that the person who made the electronic, personal-use copy either "shared" it or didn't retain the "hard" copy, the RIAA is **** out of both luck and sense in filing such a pleading. And yet they persist in doing so. A very strange organization. Happy weekend to you, B |
