I can hear the Blue Angels warming up for Sea-Fair outside. Always incredible the BOEING F-18s are here 8/1-2 then its Salinas, Fargo, ND and Offutt AFB, Neb. for rest of August. They will be at the Reno Air Races 9/19-20. If you've never seen them check out the schedule on their web site. They tour thru November then back to Pensacola NAS. They'll be turning over my house (Offutt is 7 miles north). Frank |

![]() What *is* the point of a bunch of jet jockeys doing stupid pet tricks with multi-million dollar hardware that's the property of the American people ? I know its a waste of breath, but here goes. Most, if not all of their maneuvers are used in combat situations. What they are is a recruiting and marketing tool, appealing to the testosterone teenagers in the target audience. Are they totally necessary? Depends on your point of view. Will you and I ever agree on this. Not without some good drugs on both sides. cheers Frank |

Providing the American people with a show that they paid for. Moron. g. still wondering why he has to explain the simplest of explicit messages to folks who lay claim to something vaguely resembling an education. |

Well, *I* have never (to the best of my recollection) dropped acid and I don't remember where that is either. On the other hand I have had them.....or someone very much like them.....come over my head at just about treetop level at mach 3 or 9 or something up in the woods in the U.P. It was MOST goddamn impressive and memorable. A few days ago they were chasing me around the freeway along the lakeshore in downtown Milwaukee, albeit at much lower speeds. Still impressive. g. who is pretty sure he could still kick their asses on the ground in a drunken stupor......but can't quite remember how to fetch one of those. ![]() |

If you've never seen them check out the schedule on their web site. They tour thru November then back to Pensacola NAS. The Blue Angels are an obscene and disgusting waste of aviation fuel. It reminds me of troops goose-stepping alongside ballistic missiles in Red Square. Don't we have better things to do with our tax dollars than put on displays of testosterone fueled stupidity ? Details, details, details. Tell you what, take two aspirin and call the Doc if that bug doesn't pass by morning. B;-0) Why don't you have a soldier, a sailor, a marine and an airman go around the country flashing lots of bling and big guns while blasting rap music from a big boom box. I can watch the film of Tex Johnson's barrel roll of the first 707 over lake Washington over and over and over. So will I go to Hell for that? I take it you also don't watch videos of the Reno Air Races, or can recognize the distinctive sound of a B-17's engines, or marvel at the triumph of machining that is the Curtis Wright radial engine. I may consider the lack of these experiences with dismay, but I would never fully restrict your movements or send you to a re-education camp for very long due just to their absence. Which proves that I am a tolerant person. Dave |

Over in the UK, I was right in the middle of my backcast when a
Tornado came over my head at about 150 feet doing mach snot. The plane went over, then the bang, then the wind from the vortices. Needless to say, really screwed up my cast, i.e. before the loop of line settled around me, I was hugging mud. Frank Reid |
