Same here!
Thanks to all for their great advice.
I am pumped and looking forward to making and organozing my first tripp w my
grand daughter
My grandson -(the terror) is still 4-5 yrs away from a trip

I have contacted some outfitters on the Snake for raft and drift boat trips
( a fu;; days drive).

I will also contact some outfitters near Yellowstone for a pack trip ...

The trip I was dreaming about is in the Buffalo District of the
Teton Wilderness. Here is a list of all the legal outfitters in
the Buffalo District:

http://www.fs.fed.us/r4/btnf/teton/h...tterlist.shtml

Good luck, planning a trip is almost as much fun as taking one. ;-)

Nope. Not enough water down this way to call a pack trip a fishing
trip (though you might do some fishing on a pack trip). The guys up
north would know more than I, though I recall hearing that the Wind
River range in WY has trips that hit multiple high country lakes.

The trip I've always wanted to take, if I was ever to get
on a friggin' horse again (highly doubtful), is into the
Two Ocean Pass area of the Teton Wilderness just south of
Yellowstone. The cutthroat fishing on the upper Yellowstone
and Thorofare Creek is alleged to be fantastic.

I've thought about a backpacking trip up in there but it's
too long a round trip to be realistic anymore and would
have been quite the challenge even as a youngster. Hmmmm,
I wonder if I could rent a pair of llamas ? That might be
the ticket for the "horse averse".

The Wind Rivers are nice, we did a 10 day backpacking trip
and I caught some decent fish up there but I much prefer
stream fishing to high country lake fishing.

Maybe Obama will promise to take you to Fawn Lake...he could get Axelrod to tote
ya up there in his front-end loader...

You ever wonder how life might have different if you had ever actually
done or said anything?

Hope you and your mule are well. *d;o)

Well...there's a Reid-ish story to answer that, but life is always
good out here...

Jon.

Thanks, Jon. I do believe it was the Wind River range in WY that they
were talking about. I'll look into it. It's great having a wife who
is now retired and can travel with me.

Just pulled in about an hour ago after a 12 hour drive from southern VA.

Now, as far as that mule tale is concerned: You must entertain us with it.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. The last time I was in Charlette I called you,
remember? Remember what you said? No? Uhhhh, neither do I. We were
in the neighborhood and not in a great rush. Forgive me for not
calling this time.

Looks like we will be buying a small home on a 2000 ft high ridge in
the Chatahoogee Nat'l Forest (near Helen, GA). Unbelievable view from
the sun room - facing west, with a view from south to almost directly
north. It will be a good place for you and jeffie as a starting point
to do some fishing. Plenty of room for you and your SO, plus Jeff and
Rachel and their dog. You'll have your own room and bath. I'll cook.
You supply the booze.

Jo's not *quite* convinced we "need" it, but I have to get out of this
damn People's Republic of Massachusetts. The roads up here are a joke,
as are the schools and the entire infrastructure. And the winters are
getting to my sore bones.

hell wayno's near bout as bad as what he's complaining of...boy's been
threatening a visit east for a year.

looking forward to seeing the view...i drove through helen once on my
way outta hotlanta headed to robbinsville. looked like a pleasant spot
to perch for a while. hope you're not giving up on the rapid though, as
i feel like i need at least one more visit - without the 9/11 pressure -
and with rachel and gia. wouldn't be quite right if you weren't there...

Well, he's got one of them there fancy cars, a Jag-u-ar, and what with
his pretty woman, he doesn't need a country lawyer.

It's away from Helen which is one helluva tourist trap.

Won't (read "can't") give up the Rapid. It is truly my home. So, if
you, Rachel, and the pup make it up this way, we'll pick you up in
Portland (or Manchester) and lend you one of the cars. Such a deal!

Plan on spending some time in the Peter Charles Suite.

I can understand that. We still miss Charlie and Henry. But Jenny
fills that hole in our hearts, and keeps us amused and loved.
