"wading upstream" was not intended to indicate that he was wading
upstream of
where i lost my wallet. it just describes a method of fishing. i don't
know how far it was
from the point that the wallet left my pants to the location where he found
it, days after
i lost it.

At least the wallet wasn't in your pants when you lost them. That
happened to a roomate of mine in college. Really turned into quite the
problem.
