Default Need some clarification on boo #'s

Frank wrote:OK, I found this bamboo rod on EBay and it says HCH or D on the
rod. Now, I
know that HCH converts to DT6, but what the heck is D? And would a bamboo
rod that is rated for DT6 throw a WF6 or maybe WF5? Getting my bamboo
stock built up.

Frank: You are worrying about this **** way too much. Now that you have decided
to become a 'boo gear whore. You may as well go all the way. I don't remember,
but it seems like your favorite reel for these rods in the Orvis Battenkill, if
not then substitute Hardy Perfect for this advice. If you prefer wf lines then
outfit one Battenkill with a Cortland 444 Peach WF line with a WF5F and another
Battenkill with a WF6F. If you prefer double taper lines for your 'boo rods
then fill one reel with DT5F and another with DT6F lines. I kind of like the
double taper lines with my 'boo rods. If you run into a 'boo rod that seems
like it may like a heavier line then just buy another reel and a 7 weight line
for it. don't remember if waldo sells the Battenkill reel or not, but I bet he
would sell you some Hardy Perfect reels and some of the Peach colored Cortland
444 lines. The next time you are thru this area, stop by and I will loan you my
Hardy Perfect with the spare spool that are loaded with Scientific Angler DT5F
and DT6F lines or my old Ocean City reel that has a Cortland 444 DT5F line on
it to try for a few weeks.
