I've heard the ULA Force performs well, and form is function and all
that, but does it really have to be SO ugly???

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. ) I'm not crazy bout' the design
either, but it works all the time, has the lowest weight available, very
large spool diameter ( very fast retrival ) and a superbbreak. When i fish I
look at the actual reel less than 1% of the time, so i dont care bout' the
look of the little *******. As long as it performs, im a happy flyfisher )

Good thing it's almost as expensive as it is, um, beauty-challenged in
the eye of the beholder, 'cause that "it's just a tool" talk has been
known to be a bit flammable when applied on ROFF to lower end gear....

Well.... Some people will pay good money for high quality equipment. Some
people will pay as little as possible, but just enough to get by. Of course
not all fishermen/women have the same income. I prefer to buy gear that is a
pleasure to fish with. When you get all excited about just the thought of
waving your flyrod around, and totally psycked every time you spin your
flyreel, then u know you got gear you'll keep for life. And when you pay
good $$ for high quality gear, it'll probably last for life. At least most
of my gear has a lifetime warranty, and i can se that the gear i use was
made to last a lifetime. Im not against cheap gear. Not at all. But the
enjoyment of fishing - for me at least - is so much greater when i have good
gear in my hands. It's like a good woman. There are lots of "ok" women
around, but once in a while you find that special someone, that you know is
just right for you, and that you'd like to keep for a lifetime. )
