Why do you need a semi or full automatic gun to go hunting ? Are you a
bad shot or just too lazy to reload ?

In the U.S.A., you can't hunt with a full automatic weapon. Semi auto shotguns
are commonly used world wide for hunting. Semi auto rifles are less common, but
can be used in most states, but generally, only with limited capacity. (usually
five rounds)

As has been pointed out, fully automatic weapons are tightly controlled,
very few people own one legally or otherwise. I don't believe they are
legal to use for hunting . When people talk about automatic weapons for
hunting they are really talking about automatic loading weapons, more
precisely known as semi-automatic weapons. You still have to pull the
trigger for each shot.

My father-in-law hunts big game with a semi-auto rifle chambered for .30-06.
He is a smaller man with a slender build. He doesn't care for the recoil of
a bolt action rifle, the semi-auto he uses is significantly lower recoil.

Semi-auto shotguns are seen more frequently than semi-auto rifles. They can
be a real advantage bird hunting, or in some shooting sports like skeet or
sporting clays. Personally I prefer a good over-under, but due to their
cost, they tend to be out of reach for most folks. Don't even think about
over-under rifles or side by side rifles (waaaaay expensive).

For what little it's worth......

Over and under double barrel shotguns can be had for a pretty reasonable
price. I bought a new one (Turkish made) for Becky three or four years ago
for about $400. I haven't looked at auto loaders in some time, but I'd
guess that would be a tough price to beat. And auto loaders don't have any
advantage over double barrel guns for trap, skeet or sporting
clays......unless one counts the dubious recoil thingy.
