I look at some of the highbrow fishing mags as well for style trends. The magazine would cost an arm and a leg to buy in relative terms. The mags are really well put together photography is excellent. I've seen some well heeled types following the same practise of reading the mags in the store. I think the store just returns unsold stock for full credit. Course there is overhead but that could be covered by other sales of books and mags at prices above direct cost. Thank you for the insight into retail economics, it was definitely a mystery to the modern world, until this post. I wouldn't be surprised to see this post in the Harvard Business Review. |
