A one foot long leader does sound pretty simple. g
I don't know about that. It would be pretty tough to fit five or six segments in that 12". The advantage would be that it's just GOTTA be less prone to wind knots. -- TL, Tim Good one ![]() -- Tight lines Thomas Schreiber - DK - http://schreiber.se "I don't care who's your father! For dry fly work there isn't much point in rolling your own. I, like, I think, many other roffians, use a tapered leader one lb. weight heavier than the point I'll be fishing - so often a 4lb. tapered leader. To that I tie a foot or three of 3 lb. mono. You keep snipping the tippet shorter and shorter until you have to attach another one. There are more reasons for making your own if you are, say, fishing a team of wet flies from a clinker-built boat in a good wave on one of the great loughs of the west of Ireland - the Corrib, say, or Mask.
