Any swim baiters here?? Just curious what your favorite brand was, and what
rod / reel combo you prefer. For me, chasing bass, I use a 7' MH action baitcasting combo (Shimano Curado), with 30lb PP and a 2' 15lb Fluoro leader. Chris |

I (quietly) did very well with the bagged Storm 3" shad swimbaits late last
summer. Bass really slam them. Warren "Chris Rennert" wrote in message .. . Any swim baiters here?? Just curious what your favorite brand was, and what rod / reel combo you prefer. I've been fishing professionally for quite a number of years and I do alot of sal****er fishing as well and use less test strength line than 15.. I do most of my bass fishing with no more than 10LB throughout unless I intend to fish heavy structure then I will use 15LB. I bet you will definatlely improve your catch ratio just by dropping your line test by a notch or two. posted from www.hookandsinker.com |

Throwing a big swimbait requires a decent size leader. Swimbaits are heavy baits. |

I use swimbaits often in the delta and the lakes and use a Lamiglas
flippin' stick, 7'6" heavy, Spidercast SCL 700 reel, with 65# PowerPro. I like the Osprey swim baits mostly but use others also, the weights from 1oz to 2 1/2 oz and from 6" to 12". The delta is a maze of weeds and tullies (cattails) and a big bass or striper get in there you need muscle and a strong rig to pull them out. I've broken 20# big game mono in there. Other then swimbaits I use 10/12# test on my other baits. I've gotten stripers over 30# on this rig and its a fight all the way to the boat, and not for wimpy rigs. Good luck and its a blast.. sket |
