Default Mercury Optimax 200, history of vapor lock?

Hi all, I'm trying to sort out a vapor lock problem on a Mercury
Optimax 200 Sport Jet.

I would love to hear from anyone that has driven the Optimax 200 or
250 outboard hard on a hot day for at least a half hour then stopped
to fish for at least a half hour then tried to idle the engine for a
bit before taking off again. Any problems?

The reason I ask is I'm trying to find out if the outboard has had any
trouble with vapor lock or is it confined to the sport jet.

Thanks, Dale

As an owner of a 225 Optimax I am very attuned to trouble reports on Optimax
motors. I have not heard of a vapor locking problem or one exactly as your
describe. However, to get a broader perspective I suggest you visit the
Mercury Board on the Bass Boat Central website:
http://bbcboards.zeroforum.com/zeroforum?id=53

Or similaron iBoats forums:
http://forums.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb...ubb=forum;f=29

Of the two Bass Boat Central is the better forum, but there are different
people on both so...

You will need to register in order to post your question.

Hi Bob and the group, thanks for the info. I will check out the two

BTW - I just corrected an error in my email address, it should be
correct now in case anybody wanted to send me a message off of the
list.

Thanks, Dale

NONE of the regular usenet posters here uses an accurate e-mail address due
to spammers harvesting e-mails off the groups.

Hi Bob and the group, I take advantage of the free sub email accounts
my ISP lets me have. What I do is make a new one and use it until I
get annoyed at the spam then I simply make a new email account and
delete the old one. Works great and keeps the spam at bay.

I also use Pegasus for my email program, it is free and lets me check
the subject line of all new email while it is still on the server. I
can then delete the stuff I know is spam without ever downloading it

Pegasus is the only email program that I know of that offers this. It
sure make short work of the spam.

Hope this helps, Dale
