my yamaha is spewing out gas
my 97 yamaha is spewing out gas from the carb i'm a new boat owner
please help boat has sat for almost a year

My first guess would be something keeping a reed valve open, as the piston comes back up the bore, causing blow back. The reed valves, if the engine is equipped with them, are mounted between the carbs and the cylinders. how did you notice this? Is there an airbox, or air filters on the carbs? Lack of filters could have allowed something down the airways, and lodged into a reed, holding it open. just my guess...... Ed

wrote in message oups.com... yea but it had no filters in it Have you done anything to the exhaust recently? Changes in the exhaust can cause what you describe, on a 2 stroke. I'm still going with the stuck reed valve theory. Is it a 2 stroke? Ed
