Default Parachute Fly thoughts....

Then get thy self to the library and check out some books written by the old masters. The gear sections will be entirely useless--with respect to what is being used today, but interesting to see what was used in the past (disclaimer: yes some folk still use that antiquated crap, but they are prudes and should never be queried about fishing or sex!).

A small list of writers might include:
A.K. Best
Gary Borger
Dave Whitlock
Joe Brooks
Jim Quick
Ray Bergman
A.J. Mc Clane
Dave Hughes
Ernest Schwiebert

Or simply proceed to this site and pick from among thousands of books with a lifetime of reading and choose books with titles that interest you and your fishing interests.

Seriously, don't put too much stock in one author or video producer. Read what's been out there for decades. The men that wrote these books actually fished, studied entymology, tied flyz, studied streams, and knew how to teach others too!

Get suggestions from other ROFFians too, as to the better writers, as my knowledge is very limited. If you are in the West, you might want to focus on books that speak to the various types of waters out your way. No matter the ebook, there is always something in it that is transferable.

Read, read, and then read some more---BOOKS!

Okay, there is one exception--NEVER EVER read Middleton's "On the Spine of Time"! Garbage, pure and simple!

Oh, and get yourself some fancy lithograph or oil paintings of fly fishing scenes to hang about the house. A velvet print of Elvis decked out in his fly fishing regalia is expensive but fashionable--I have several.

And never speak ill of the Swedish Chef!

Regards,

Op
