Default Recommendations for 6wt fly rod under $200

Perot's candidacy was a cult of personality

And George Washington's selection as our first president wasn't?

and even if he had
been elected he would have been powerless to implement any real
change.

Yeah, much like Jimmy Carter, when his own party chose to let the country
suffer rather than support their own parties presidential choice. While
what you say is likely true, it may be that the electorate would begin to
recognize just how destructive the Dems and Repubs are to the nation and all
to perpetuate re-election and the parties power in government.

No one can govern singlehandedly even if they do appeal
to 100% of the disenchanted. The disenchanted don't govern, the
Democrats and the Republicans do.

So, you admit that the voice of the electorate means nothing to the two
major political parties. And yet you would still support the status quo.
Amazing!

If you want to see the power of a compelling message from just
a few short years ago, go he http://www.reformparty.org/

I'd say it makes perfectly good sense to dismiss it out of hand.

Yes, but you would also have been a loyalist during the Revolutionary War!

There's only one game in town in American politics and it's a
two-party, binary, winner-take-all game whether you like it or
not.

Look at your ballot in Nov. Dumbass!

You can either get in the game and vote for *electable*
candidates who will best represent your interests

See, that's the reason why there are third parties, because our interests
are not being represented!

or you can
waste your valuable franchise with a futile protest vote.

Or, we can continue to believe that there is a better way, and continue to
cast our votes in a manner that we choose.

By the way, how'd that futile protest vote go for you, in the last two
elections? Remember, second place is really just the first loser.

No, just keeping an eye on them from time to time to see if anything
serious develops.....

Clearly a Hillary Clinton / John McCain Unity ticket would have slightly
more credibility than and Democrat Joe-Blow-Nobody-Ever-Heard-Of and
Republican Jane-Doe-Whosit? ticket, but it's probably also a little less
likely....

Do you think ? ;-)

They sound like an idealistic and sincere group of kids.
At least they're smart enough not to give up their party
affiliation for this quixotic fantasy. I suspect they'll
learn some valuable lessons about American politics.

For my part, if they run any known Dem or Repub, I won't consider them.

.....considerably less likely than Hell freezing over, by my
estimate. Plus, I see no real appeal in a merging of two
known political opportunists.

I can understand the horror the right has of an HRC presidency, but I
think it greatly over-values the conventional wisdom about her supposed
unelectability.

JR, I am pretty far removed from anything considered
"the Right", and I will tell you this flat-out: Hillary Clinton cannot ever
win a presidential election, unless something radical changes about her
current polling numbers. Recent
polls consistently show that 42% of likely voters would
vote against her, without a named opponent. Given those negatives, I would
bet everything I own that she will never be able to win, ever, no matter how
much money is raised.
The bet is off, should the GOP run Dick Cheney, but otherwise, any
Republican would beat her......easily.
