: I like the policy positions of the Democratic party on the issues I care about: the environment, fiscal discipline, diplomacy instead of unilateralism, peace instead of war (especially an optional war based on lies), lobbying reform, women's access to safe and legal abortion, civil rights, health care reform, and on and on. I'm particularly taken with Danforth's views on the impact of the Religious Right on the Republican Party. He'd be an interesting person to see make a resurgence. -- Scott Reverse name to reply |

Since 2000 the country has been going to hell with the Republican monopoly on government, and it will continue unless and until the Democrats win power in Congress and and provide a much needed check on this corrupt, arrogant regime. All well and fine, but which party will "provide a much needed check on [the] corrupt, arrogant [Democratic] regime[?]" Op |

And there is really no escaping the fact that that label of morality police goes to Republicans, not Democrats. With respect to hypocrisy, I was trying to make a point about morality policing, not hypocrisy in general. I think that Steve was trying to point out the neither the Dems nor the Repubs are worthy of our votes. I could be wrong about Steve's post, but that's the way I read it. Yeah, but I certainly don't "embrace" any party. |

Unfortunately, I doubt if they care enough to even snicker at those of us who don't vote major party. I tend to vote Libertarian or Grassroots, as I like their platforms of individual liberty. Then you and I and Jon would be considered traitors for not identifying with the cause of the Democrats, in the eyes of rw, kenny and some others I suppose. Even though we may never have supported the cause of the Democrats. I considered voting for Perot. Can't recall why I didn't. I didn't vote for Nader and haven't even considered doing so for a long time. I voted for Perot in '92, but not '96, I believe I wrote in Donald Duck in '96. I did vote Nader in 2000, as a write in, as he never made it to the NC ballot. Op |
