Planning on heading out next year (every two years or bust...). May actually be a bit later for me though. As promised (Mr. Miller) I am combining it with a family sightseeing tour (one if which Mr. Hightower wouldn't approve..). The Finn Lost me on that one Mike. Around this part of the state (west) the salmon flies are generally out most of June- Fathers day on Rock Creek is pretty good. IIRC we saw lots of Salmon Flies on the Madison around the camp ground just after the 4th of July. The bad side of all this is spring runoff can make for tough fishing conditions. The last couple of years we've been into hoot-owl fishing by early August (rivers closed from 12:00 noon to 10:00 pm or something like that) I didn't get out much last year- started shooting skeet and was off to one tournament or another most of the year. Looking for stuff outside the park too, like a trip over to Cody, or maybe a stay up to Cooke City, but I'm sure we'll participate in a wildlife viewing cluster or two. The last couple of years we've been into hoot-owl fishing by early August (rivers closed from 12:00 noon to 10:00 pm or something like that) Not totally adverse to an early morning/late day fishing, especially since that may be the only regular fishing I get in anyway, but would rather have options to fish along the way. So much to see, it being the first time up for the rest of the clan, we'll be all over the place. I didn't get out much last year- started shooting skeet and was off to one tournament or another most of the year. John Will take them to that spot on Slough that Jeff and I happened upon last year. Fishing was easy, and the scenery was to die for. Probably will take them to the Gibbon also. Any other suggestions for fishing with the boys? |

Any other suggestions for fishing with the boys? We were out there this last year and Sheepeater creek was pretty good for Brook Trout (nothing more than a foot long or so though). If you hike down past the first set of waterfalls it was very quiet and had both nice riffles and a meadow section. It's not more than a 1/2 mile hike so easy for the kids. |
